Loving our neighbors in word and Action

THE LOCAL OUTREACH TEAM

The Local Outreach team (the “LO Team”) seeks to respond to God's love by loving our neighbors in word and action. Our hope is to see God's kingdom come here in Modesto as it is in heaven, and we believe that humble service is a great way to connect with God, with each other, and with our neighbor. Below are some of the many opportunities for individuals and groups to serve and address specific needs in our community. For more general information, contact Carole Phillips at (209) 531-3036.

Volunteer Opportunities:

Family Promise

MCC houses homeless families three times a year through Family Promise, a network of Modesto area churches. The goal is to help them regain their housing and independence while allowing them to stay together. We have a great Family Promise team that extends the love of Jesus to families in difficult situations…but there is room for you to be the hands of Christ to these families. Below is a description of each of the roles on the Family Promise team. The serving is not complicated and orientation will be provided to those who have not served before. Watch for sign-ups outside the foyer or through the all church email. Learn more at www.modestofamilypromise.com

LovE Somerset Middle School

We love Somerset Middle School (our neighbors) and it is our hope that Somerset flourishes. There are variety of ways we serve this school throughout the year. We provide for a back to school BBQ for Somerset teachers, we raise funds for a Christmas time shopping spree for at risk students and families, we have provided meals trains for Somerset families going through difficult times of grief. This past year, we began hosting Parent Cafe, a monthly space for parents of area students to come together and share solutions to challenges they face. If you are interested in learning more about this ministry to Somerset contact Jane Lynch - (209) 914-7330
